We R Makers, formerly known as We R Memory Keepers, is the American Crafts brand
that develops new crafting supplies and tools.

MY ROLE - Art Direction, Illustration, and Product Design

In 2015, American Crafts noticed the emerging trend that crafters were using vintage typewriters for journaling on their crafts and as a prop for photographing their projects. Their sourcing department tracked down the last remaining typewriter factory in the world, and they sent us a 1990s era machine for us to work with. I was tasked with the job of designing a new exterior shell that could house the inner working of this typewriter. My drawings for this “new” typewriter were inspired by the classic 1950’s era Olympia and Royal machines.

When Typecast Typewriters were first released, they were available in Black and Blush Pink, with Mint, Red, and White being added to the catalog at a later date. I also insisted that the Typecast program include a variety of modern colored typewriter ribbons, including pink, teal, silver, gold, white, and brown.
